Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, at Locust Ridge Tenn. She grew up with 12 other children. The vivid imagination of her mother helped her escape from the pressures of daily life. Before learning how to write and read, Dolly Parton was creating her own songs. She got her first guitar when she was 8 and began singing on an Knoxville Tenn radio station at age 11. That same year she made her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. In high school, she made her name in the local community, yet she yearned for having a bigger stage. After she finished her high school, in 1964, she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first record to chart for the first time on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner's syndicated TV show required the services of a new singer by this time. Parton signed with RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She was hired in the year 1967. She left Wagoner's show, however, in 1974 because her solo albums such as Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene exceeded the sales of their joint albums. The song by Parton, I Will Never Love You (for Wagoner), was able to reach the No. number 1 position after the duo broke up. It was the first time a song reached No.
