Taylor Swift may be the most unusual of pop stars: an artist who was able to effortlessly bridge the gap between country and pop, conquering the globe. Swift shed the country influences as if they were an additional layer of skin. She revealed that she was among the best singers/songwriters of her generation. Swift could make the event personal and use it to her advantage. The skills she displayed were apparent on her first hits, particularly the Neo-Tribute Tim McGraw but her second album 2008's Fearless showcased a songwriter discovering her true identity and, in doing so, gaining an audience of mass. The album was able to have significant legs not only within the U.S. where it racked up six platinum singles thanks to Top Ten hits Love Story and the hit single You Belong with Me but throughout the world, with a particular success in the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift's next album, Speak Now, released almost two years after the debut, further consolidated the success of this album. It helped propel Swift to the heights of fame. With the three albums following -- Red 2012 1989 2014, as well as Reputation 2017, Swift's success only grew. It was a clear indicator that Swift had entered the new music scene where she fit in. As she cut her style by releasing stripped-down albums like 2020, folklore, and Evermore but she was still in the top spot. It was a position that was confirmed with the re-recordings she had made from her earlier catalog, as along with Midnights, her synth-heavy chart-topping 2022 album.
