Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the benefits of football scholarship with volunteerism in the community. In the first place the Selmons were raised with Lucious and Jessie Selmon on an agricultural property near Eufala within Oklahoma as the youngest of their nine children. The Selmons were also among the three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. The three brothers all made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey was a starter for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi award as the best lineman in the country. For the three seasons that Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. In his role as an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given a scholarship for the third time in the year 1975. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in the college. Following college, he moved to Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers was the all-pro 3 times, and began an entrepreneurial career. The first job he had was a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 of America's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds when he was a student athlete. He played for the team of 1975. In 1993, he was appointed the assistant director of Athletics at University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
